The Thing About Men
Trustus Theatre announces Off Broadway hit The Thing About Men, a wryly sophisticated musical comedy from the authors of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. The show will be loosening up the holiday season beginning Dec. 14th at 8 p.m.
The Thing About Men is a highly 
farcical tale, spiced by a complicated plot revealing a two-timing advertising executive Tom (Chip Stubbs) who leaves his wife Lucy (Vicky Saye Henderson) and becomes the roommate of the down-on-his-luck artist, Sebastian (Kevin Bush), Lucy’s lackadaisical lover. Tom attempts to manage his two identities in order to drive a wedge between his wife and her lover opening the door for plenty of comic opportunities.

While The Thing About Men is quite funny, the emotional sweep of the show's romance and the questions it raises stick with you. It is a serious musical comedy, aimed squarely at adults, and brimming with the wry sophistication of a show that knows it can succeed while taking the high road. The Thing About Men thrives quite nicely on being its own creation - though it is based on the mid-1980s German film Männer.
The book and lyrics created by Joe DiPietro with music by Jimmy Roberts whose other musical theatre collaboration includes I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, the longest-running revue ever to play in New York.
Directed by Dewey Scott-Wiley the cast includes Columbia musical theatre favorites, Kevin Bush (Sebastian), Matthew DeGuire (Man), Robin Gottlieb (Woman), Vicky Saye Henderson (Lucy) and Chip Stubbs (Tom).
The Thing About Men runs from Dec. 14-16 and Jan. 10-26. Performances are Wednesdays & Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. There will be 3 Sunday matinees, Dec. 16th, Jan. 13th and 20th. All tickets are $22.50.
