Trustus Theatre presents the Pulitzer Prize winner Rabbit Hole, by acclaimed playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, this emotionally driven performance opens on Friday March 28 at 8 p.m.

RABBIT HOLE presents a tragedy and its consequences with utter candor, and without sentimentality. The dialogue is most impressive for capturing the awkwardness and pain of thinking people faced with an unthinkable situation—and eventually, their capacity for survival, and even hope.” —USA Today.

David Lindsay-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole depicts a family in crisis, one caused not by betrayal or neglect, but by a heartbreakingly random accident. Lindsay-Abaire’s play is eloquent in its depiction of five people dealing with the aftermath of a very personal tragedy. Each character is enveloped in a private grieving process that, little by little, challenges the family bonds that tie them together.

Written with poignant humor and finely-observed detail, Rabbit Hole is one of Trustus Theatre’s most acclaimed plays of the season. It explores questions and challenges that are readily known to anyone who has ever suffered loss, or has tried to move beyond it. There are no easy answers, no profound, but in its honesty, candor and complete lack of sentimentality, Rabbit Hole gives us a glimpse into a family that is very much like our own. One coping with loss as any family might: with anger and hope, despair and humor, and ultimately, profound, aching humanity.

Playwright Lindsay-Abaire is respected for such quirky, freewheeling Off-Broadway comedies as Fuddy Meers and Kimberly Akimbo, but his more Rabbit Holeserious Rabbit Hole received five Tony nominations, including Best Play before going on to win the coveted Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2006.

Early in his career, Lindsay-Abaire was a winner in the Trustus Theatre’s Playwrights’ Festival with his play A Show of Hands. Rabbit Hole will be Trustus Theatre’s 3rd production of a Lindsay-Abaire play.

Directed by Jim Thigpen, the cast of Rabbit Hole consist of local theatre favorites Vicky Saye Henderson as Becca, EG Heard as Izzy, Glenn Rawls as Howie. The cast also includes Trustus Apprentice Company member Alec Grooms as Jason, as well as the return to the stage of Trustus co-founder, Kay Thigpen as Nat.
