Trustus Apprentice Company

The Trustus Apprentice Company is an ensemble of high school students who have demonstrated a desire to hone their skills in the art of creating theatre.  Trustus provides them with unparalleled opportunities to do so.  Apprentices not only work on shows with the best professional artists in the region, but they also receive Master Classes in a variety of areas, including scene study, improvisation, musical theatre, movement, voice, acting, playwrighting, auditioning, and production. Interviews are held each year in April.

Kelsey Chow is in the ninth grade at Hammond School.  She has appeared in local productions of Ragtime, Dogs, the Musical, and The Will Rogers Follies.  She has also appeared in school productions of The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Snow White, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.  Kelsey is also a member of local dance and vocal ensembles.  This summer, she attended the SC Governor’s School Discovery Program.

Alex Dingman is a ninth grader at Dreher High School, a member of the Junior Thespian Society and also a visual artist.  Among his past acting roles are:  Toby in Carlo Menotti’s opera The Medium; Lewis in Walnut Hill School for the Arts Pippin; Mother Ginger in Carolina Ballet’s The Nutcracker; and Latt in the Emmy award winning DHEC public television program and its sequels.  Alex has also appeared in Richland District One performances and at Town Theater.

McLean Moore attends A.C. Flora High School, where she studies theatre with Donna McKenna-Crook. She is a member of the South Carolina Shakespeare Youth Company, and has recently begun modeling with Mille Lewis. McLean has studied dance for 13 years, and voice with Shirlee Teuber-Goins for 2. McLean performs on local stages as well. For her last show, she attempted a new aspect and ran sound for Sordid Lives at Workshop Theatre. McLean has also successfully completed both the Discovery and Academy program at Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, where she hopes to complete her junior and senior year of high school.

Roddey Smith is a junior at Dreher High School and is proud to be in his third year of the Apprentice Company.  Most recently Roddey was seen as Javert in Les Miserables at Palmetto Center for the Arts.  He has also appeared in several shows at Dreher such as West Side Story and The Crucible.  Roddey also plays the saxophone in the school band and also studies guitar and piano.  He has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.  Roddey looks forward to another year in the Trustus Apprentice Company.
